Tree of Heaven

This is the tree of heaven. I have been reading to get this information. Although it is pretty (and for some reason in my backyard), it is highly invasive and should not be planted in Ohio. This tree was brought to this country as a source of food for silkworms. It didn't work, but the tree kept growing and stayed. It's called the tree of heaven because it is so tall, as tall as 80 feet (when mature) and 40 feet wide (when mature). This tree in my backyard is not as healthy so it's not as tall, but it's what a healthy one looks like (and it's a good thing it isn't healthy so I could have other trees). If you would like to learn ore about this tree, go to forestry.Ohiodnr.gov. I hope you enjoyed, feel free to leave a comment, and remember, don't plant this in Ohio.

  1. Interesting that these trees thrive so much here in Ohio with it being so cold. What other evasive trees are there?

    1. Some invasive trees are the Mimosa tree, the Princess tree, and the Japanese maple. They are all pretty.

    2. Food for silkworms? Imagine how many trees you would have to get to feed enough worms to make enough silk to make even one shirt! 😕
